We need to know that relationships are unavoidable. We humans are social animals, so we cannot live in isolation. We must interact with one another as long as we are alive. Therefore, let your relationship with your existing and potential customers, clients and business associates be well guarded. It should be founded on understanding, loyalty, trust and above all, LOVE which is the power that gives strength and a long lifespan to every relationship. Clarity of heart and genuineness of purpose towards the people you deal with in the endeavour of your business are very important. With these virtues, some mischievous people may choose to misinterpret your motives as being selfish and ulterior, and others may even want to take undue advantage of you. However, as you remain consistent and stick to your principles and values, you will eventually forge an identity for yourself that will attract people to you and your business. Do away with every form of hatred, bitterness, jealousy, envy, greed and selfishness, as these can negatively affect your smooth relationship with people and by extension, hinder the success of your business.

Besides the people you will encounter in your business circle, it is also very important to have a good relationship with your family. Charity, they say, begins at home. Where love abounds as the foundation of a family, it has a way of radiating and spreading to everything that its members do, including their finances and business ventures. Love in a family infuses the members with positive energy which translates into the way they conduct their businesses.  Love has a way of surmounting and subduing all difficulties. Always keep the light of love shining brightly, and everything else will shape itself to the pattern of your most lofty desires. Whenever success is not experienced in business, the missing link is usually a functional relationship.

Another aspect of relationship is loyalty. Loyalty is a key factor in business relationships. As long as associates in business maintain the spirit of loyalty to one another, they can always generally find a way to overcome their challenges together.

In relating with others in your business, do not neglect or despise them. Always do your part to ensure that others adequately receive what is their due. If you are an employer, always bear in mind that no one ever does anything with enthusiasm unless he/she benefits in accordance with his/her inputs and is well motivated.

In a business relationship where you happen to be the head/boss, do not try to intimidate, frighten or coerce your subordinates. Rather, exercise your authority as CEO using diplomacy and tact based upon a definite motive to elicit cooperation and passion. The era of leadership by force is long gone. Do not try to revive it, for it has no place in civilized life.

Ensure to do all it takes to create the spirit of fellowship among your workers and business associates, to maintain a platform for cordial team work. This has the effect of building CONFIDENCE, a vital boost for relationship in a business setting. Confidence is the basis of all harmonious relationships.

Finally, COOPERATION is needed in every relationship. As you are not your own client or customer, you cannot attain success in your business without the cooperation of others. The good news is that the power to enjoy the cooperation of others rests largely with no other person than YOU.
